With directions:
Wilcot, to the east is the nearest village, with a thatched country pub, The Golden Swan, serving locally brewed beer and good food.
Woodborough is to the West and has a garden centre with a farm shop and friendly coffee shop . Both are about a 10-15 minute walk.
The closest supermarket is in Pewsey, a small market town, about a 10 minute drive from the moorings. Pewsey also provides a high speed rail link to Reading, London, the South coast and onwards into Devon and Cornwall.
A 30 minute drive further will take you to the fantastic shops, stalls , cafés and restaurants offered by the historic and pretty market town of Marlborough.
Cruise towards Devizes and you will come to Honey Street. Here you will find a service dock for diesel, gas, pump out and coal. You can stop for a drink at The Barge Inn and enjoy its large canal side garden, famous for its crop circles.
Cruise towards Wootton Rivers and you will find Pewsey Wharf, with a CRT pump out, Elsan, water dock and a canal side pub, The Waterfront.
To the West
Honey Street - 40 minutes
Devizes - 3 1/2 to 4 hours
Caen Hill Flight (29 locks, takes about 5 hours to complete)
through the lovely countryside of Seend and Semington and into the town of Bradford on Avon, followed by Trowbridge, then
Bathampton, where you will cross the river Avon on the famous aqueduct before deciding into the very heart of Bath.
For the more adventurous........ finally, Bristol Harbour.
To the East
Pewsey - 25 minutes
Wooton Rivers - 3 hours
Crofton Pumping Station, with ample mooring facilities then
Great Bedwyn and on into Hungerford, you really do need to visit this town.
Onwards to Newbury and Aldermaston Wharf and into the very heart of Reading town shopping centre, where your navigation is controlled by traffic lights !
Continue and you will eventually reach the non tidal section of 'Old Father Thames' himself.
